DAN HAYS…The winningest coach in Oklahoma history with 724 career victories, 653 coming during his 33-year stint at Oklahoma Christian University. JOHN LOFTIN…Amassed 861 wins in his 38 years of coaching, and coached 23 different All-American players. He won a State Championship at Claude, Texas going 35-1 and in his two years there was 68-4. It has been said “If you can’t measure it, how can you improve it?”, and that is the purpose of the PPA. By measuring not only height, weight, reach, and wing span, the standardized PPA will measure shooting, speed, quickness, change of direction, speed dribbling, vertical jump, and player’s body strength. Not only will that give the player a challenging skill roadmap on which she can improve, but it will give college coaches an accurate measuring stick by which they can compare other players who have also taken the assessment.

–  When talking about the PPA, it has often been compared to what is done in the well-publicized football combines. To which Alabama coach Nick Saban says, “there is a standard set for each position, identifying key characteristics within each position of his system. Each prospect who is recruited, depending on position, has to meet certain measurable (height, weight, speed, etc.), among other criteria. Rarely will Saban deviate. Often they take some heat publicly because there could be a big-time guy that may not meet their critical factors. It doesn’t mean he’s not a great player. It just means he’s not the right fit for Alabama.

The PPA, or “combine for women’s basketball,” provides the same measurable criteria that can be used by college coaches in the basketball recruiting process.
